Essentials oils had been used for healing the physical body, and the energy body for a very long time, and were recognized by many civilizations. Now aromatherapy is rising again, and many are swearing by the benefits of essential oils. The below 4 methods of using essential oils are very effective when dealing with chakra blockages.
1- Direct Inhalations
For direct inhalations essential oils are used on a hot towel that you can press near your nose,
diffusers, or in a bowl of hot water. The recommended dose is ten drops. This method is best for healing the throat chakra, and the respiratory system, and is known to also help with headaches. Please be cautious when using this method, as prolonged inhalation of concentrated oil can cause undesirable side effects. It is best to limit the direct inhalation to 5 minutes per day.
2- Baths
It is very common, and refreshing to use essential oils in a hot tub. The recommended dose for this method is 5-10 drops, and it works best with milder oils. Just put the oil on hot water immediately before entering the tub. You can also mix several oils using this method according to your needs.
Aromatic baths are perfect for skin problems, stress, insomnia, and they also help balance the seven chakras of your energy body. When using this method, please make sure to use non-irritating oils such as lavender and clary sage.
3- Facial steam
Simply add 1 to 5 drops of essential oil in a hot water pot, cover your head with a towel, and let the steam run through your face. This method is excellent for opening the sinuses, and is known to heal balance the 3rd eye chakra.
4- Diffusers
The most common, and one of the most effective ways to use essential oils. There are several types of diffusers out there, with different advantages & disadvantages.
Candle diffusers are very simple to use, and are also very cheap. I personally prefer to use them because i find that the candle flame is relaxing to look at, however, they do not produce strong concentration compared to electric heat diffusers. Electric diffusers are easy to use, they require minimal maintenance, and the concentration of diffuse is quite strong, which is good, the only downside to using an electric diffuser is that heat sometimes damages the aromatic compounds. Another diffuser to consider is the cool air diffuser, these diffusers are very strong, but they should be cleaned regularly as they tend to clog sometimes, it is also important to consider that some thick oils like sandalwood, and ylang ylang cannot be used with a cool air diffusers because they simply will not diffuse. Both electric & cool air diffusers are equipped with a timer to produce intermittent diffusion, which reduces the amount of oil consumption.
There are many other methods, and concerns when dealing with essential oils, however, for the purpose of this blog, the methods listed above are the most common ones that i am going to refer to when blogging chakra balancing related posts. Thank You!
Love & Light.
